* '''Vannevar Bush''' (1890 - 1974) byl americký vědec, výzkumník a státní úředník. Zastával významné pozice v oblasti výzkumné politiky Spojených států. Výzkumu se věnoval od mládí - v roce 1927 vyvinul diferenční analyzátor, analogový počítač s digitálními prvky, který byl schopen řešit diferenciální rovnice. V průběhu 1. sv. války se zabýval výzkumem pro detekcí německých ponorek na základě měření poruch v zemském magnetickém poli. Před 2. světovou válkou působil v institutu technologie v Massachusetts (MIT), kde inicioval výzkum na pomezí armádních, průmyslových a akademických disciplin. Byl zodpovědný za koordinaci týmu amerických vědců v oboru aplikace vědy na oblast vojenství. Hrál významnou roli ve vývoji atomové bomby (projekt Manhattan). Byl předsedou Národní poradní komise pro aeronautiku (NACA), podílel se na založení Národní obranné výzkumné komise (NDRC), byl ředitelem Úřadu pro vědecký výzkum a vývoj (OSRD). V roce 1938 se stal prezidentem Carnegieho institutu ve Washingtonu (CIW). Činnost institutu se pokoušel zaměřit na přírodní vědy a výpočetní technologii; významu humanitních a společenských věd velkou důležitost nepřikládal. Bush se dlouhodobě zabýval otázkami vyhledávání informací a v roce 1945 napsal článek pro Atlantic Monthly, kde popsal „Memex“. Stroj připomínal preparovaný psací stůl a umožňoval uživateli přístup k velké databázi knih, časopisů a dokumentů uložených na mikrofilmu. Memex měl mít jistou podobu paměti a umožňoval vracet se k předcházejícím výsledkům vyhledávání. Podobný koncept byl v podobě interaktivních počítačových systémů v podstatě uskutečněn na MIT až v polovině šedesátých let. * Vannevar Bush (1890 - 1974) was an American scientist, researcher and state employ. He held important positions in United States research policy. He has been involved in research since his youth, and in 1927 he developed a differential analyzer, an analog computer with digital elements that could solve differential equations. During the 1st World War was involved in the detection system of submarines based on the measurement of disturbances in the Earth&#39;s magnetic field. Prior to World War II, he worked at the Institute of Technology in Massachusetts (MIT), where he initiated research at the interface of the military, industry, and academia. He was in charge of coordinating American scientists in the application of science to the military. His role in the development of the atomic bomb in the Manhattan Project was significant. Was chairman of the National Advisory Commission for Aeronautics (NACA), co-founded the National Defense Research Commission (NDRC), and was the director of the Office for Scientific Research and Development (OSRD). In 1938, he became president of the Carnegie Institution in Washington (CIW). He focused the goal of the institute exclusively on the so-called hard sciences, ie natural sciences and computer technology; he did not attach such importance to the importance of the humanities and social sciences. V roce 1974 vyhlásil manifest „Roky bez umění 1977–1980“, kde umělce celého světa vyzval, aby jako formu radikálního protestu přerušili produkci umění. Proslavil se jako organizátor akce Destruction in Art Symposium v v ICA v roce 1966 kde rozvinul zmíněnou koncepci auto-destruktivního umění, které bylo ekvivalentem či metaforou destruktivním společenským silám. * Gustav Metzger (1926-2017) was a visionary artist and radical thinker. At the heart of his practice,  are a series of constantly opposing yet interdependent forces such as destruction and creation. Metzger’s involvement in anti-nuclear movements such as the Committee of 100 and his life-long activism to combat environmental destruction was fundamental to his provocative questioning of the role of artist and of conventional forms of artmaking and display.
